Equipped with the right applications, a computer can be of great help in virtually any domain of activity. When it comes to designing and precision, no other tool is as accurate as a computer. Moreover, specialized applications such as AutoCAD give you the possibility to design nearly anything ranging from art, to complex mechanical parts or even buildings.
Suitable for business environments and experienced users
After a decent amount of time spent installing the application on your system, you are ready to fire it up. Thanks to the office suite like interface, all of its features are cleverly organized in categories. At a first look, it looks easy enough to use, but the abundance of features it comes equipped with leaves room for second thoughts.
Create 2D and 3D objects
You can make use of basic geometrical shapes to define your objects, as well as draw custom ones. Needless to say that you can take advantage of a multitude of tools that aim to enhance precision. A grid can be enabled so that you can easily snap elements, as well as adding anchor points to fully customize shapes.
With a little imagination and patience on your behalf, nearly anything can be achieved. Available tools allow you to create 3D objects from scratch and have them fully enhanced with high-quality textures. A powerful navigation pane is put at your disposal so that you can carefully position the camera to get a clearer view of the area of interest.
Various export possibilities
Similar to a modern web browser, each project is displayed in its own tab. This comes in handy, especially for comparison views. Moreover, layouts and layers also play important roles, as it makes objects handling a little easier.
Sine the application is not the easiest to carry around, requiring a slightly sophisticated machine to properly run, there are several export options put at your disposal so that the projects itself can be moved around.
Aside from the application specific format, you can save as an image file of multiple types, PDF, FBX and a few more. Additionally, it can be sent via email, directly printed out on a sheet of paper, or even sent to a 3D printing service, if available.
To end with
All in all, AutoCAD remains one of the top applications used by professionals to achieve great precision with projects of nearly any type. It encourages usage with incredible offers for student licenses so you get acquainted with its abundance of features early on. A lot can be said about what it can and can't do, but the true surprise lies in discovering it step-by-step.

AutoCAD History
AutoCAD LT History
AutoCAD LT (now part of Autodesk AutoCAD) was released in 1987 as a desktop app. Like AutoCAD, it can be used for both technical and non-technical users. The first LT version, LT1.0, was released in March 1987. The next version of LT was LT2.0, released in October 1988. The software for LT2.0 was distributed on two floppy disks. LT1.0 and LT2.0 work on PCs running DOS, Windows 95, Windows NT, Windows 98 or Windows 2000.
In 1990, a major update of LT, LT3.0, was released. LT3.0 was the first version of AutoCAD that could open drawings created by other CAD programs. For a short period of time, users of the Autodesk Architectural Desktop (ADT) could save files as LT3, read them in the ADT program, and open them with LT. In 2001, Autodesk’s AutoCAD released a number of bug fixes and new features in a version of LT called LT4.0. LT4.0 used Windows 2000 and was the last version of AutoCAD LT. AutoCAD LT has not been updated since 2001.
AutoCAD SP History
AutoCAD SP (now part of Autodesk AutoCAD) was released in August 1993. Its main advantage over LT is the ability to open the same drawing formats that exist in other popular CAD programs. Users can switch between SP and LT with no restrictions, except that LT users cannot open SP drawings.
AutoCAD SP was offered with AutoCAD LT or in a standalone version. Unlike other AutoCAD versions, SP does not have versions LT3.0, LT4.0, or any other separate release. SP users can upgrade to newer versions of AutoCAD or AutoCAD LT with no downtime.
The last version of AutoCAD SP was SP5.0. Like the preceding versions of AutoCAD SP, it was released in August 1998. A new version of SP, SP6.0, was released in June 2004. The last version of AutoCAD SP, SP7.0, was released in October 2009.
AutoCAD Architecture History
AutoCAD Architecture (now part of Autodesk AutoCAD) was released in April 1995. The main
AutoCAD 2018 22.0 Torrent (Activation Code)
A 2007 version of AutoCAD Activation Code included a scripting language, called AutoLISP, which was based on Visual LISP. For example, it was possible to dynamically add support for custom text styles to AutoCAD. In 2010, AutoLISP was discontinued and Autodesk announced a new scripting language called Visual LISP for AutoCAD.
In 2017, AutoCAD’s development team decided to move development to Microsoft Visual Studio and C#..NET was chosen for a reason of Openness of the language.
Autodesk has discontinued its free “AutoCAD for Developers” version and added a Linux client to its base subscription offerings.
History
AutoCAD had its first public release in 1989, according to Autodesk.
AutoCAD 2010 introduced some changes in the user interface, bringing the toolbox and the Ribbon closer together. The biggest changes to the user interface were the relocation of the “Navigate” menu from the toolbox and a new “Views” menu in the ribbon. The “Views” menu made it easier to jump to any view that you need. AutoCAD 2010 introduced the ability to display the geometry of a spline and fit it to a drawing view. In AutoCAD 2012, the Object Snap features of AutoCAD 2010 were improved.
In 2013, AutoCAD introduced the ability to collapse the toolbars, showing only the tools that are needed on the current screen. The user interface was designed for tablets in the computer, allowing for “intelligent reading”.
AutoCAD 2014 introduced a new high-performance engineering modeling engine, and improved animation of the user interface.
In 2014, AutoCAD introduced an improved template feature that made it easier to reuse a drawing layout.
AutoCAD 2016 was the first major release since 2009 to be based on Windows 7.
In 2016, AutoCAD introduced a new 3D modeling engine.
With AutoCAD 2017, the final version was released. The changes were based on Windows 8.1 and Windows 10.
In 2018, AutoCAD became free for a limited time.
In 2019, AutoCAD became free until June 5th 2020.
Versions
AutoCAD 2007 is based on AutoCAD LT 2007, with some significant changes:
The number of objects added to the drawing is limited to 64,000, excluding major objects like text, lines, poly

Q:
Why is the default monitor resolution lower than my physical monitor resolution?
I have an HP computer monitor that supports 2048 x 1536. I use a second monitor. My laptop has two monitors built in, and the built in monitors are 1280 x 800.
When I plug the monitor in, it uses the lower resolution on the laptop. I have turned off the second built in monitor on the laptop. When I log in to Ubuntu using my other monitor, it says it doesn’t have the ability to change the resolution. I have only the lower resolution on that monitor. I am unsure why the built in monitor on the laptop would not use the same resolution as the external monitor.
A:
The monitor resolution depends on the graphics card and the driver that is installed on it.
You should check what driver is currently in use by your laptop and use that for the same resolution on the external monitor.

Draw and edit drawings with images. Use embedded images in AutoCAD and its PDF output.
Design online and in any CAD program. Send drawings from AutoCAD to MicroStation and other AutoCAD applications, and vice versa.
Embed files, such as DWG and DXF, directly into your CAD drawings. Integrate 2D and 3D content, such as 3D models and surfaces, into your designs.
Work collaboratively with the complete Autodesk 360 cloud architecture.
Streamline your DWG drawings with new commands. Select the DWG commands and performance you need to get the work done. AutoCAD 2023 removes the need to choose between familiar commands and new commands.
Manage all your drawings as layers. When you activate a drawing, all of its layers are active.
AutoCAD, Autodesk Revit, and Autodesk Design Review 3D:
Share and review DXF files from AutoCAD, Autodesk Revit, and Autodesk Design Review. (video: 3:30 min.)
Send drawings to Autodesk Design Review. Use the new DWG or DWF commands to send drawings to Design Review directly.
Eliminate the need to switch between applications. Use the new DWG commands to send DWG drawings directly to Autodesk Revit.
Autodesk Maya and Autodesk 3ds Max:
Add or remove the skeleton from the scene. When you add a skeleton to your scene, it creates layers on top of your scene layers, which makes it easy to apply your scene color to the background.
Add or remove depth cue, which lets you indicate whether an object is close or far away from the viewer.
Work with the new FMI 3D environment. FMI (file management information) lets you manage your content in the way that makes the most sense to you.
